I think we over-emphasize solutions. Any political operative will tell you that if you mention a crisis in education, have a 10 point plan to fix it in that same speech. I don't agree. Every political analyst will tell you that people want answers and if you don't provide them, they won't vote for you. I disagree. If you pretend that issues are simple, if you pretend that there's an easy cause and effect, and every problem can be fixed with either a tax cut or a government program, not only will you hurt the country policy-wise, but you'll hurt the party politically.
I checked centerforpolitics.org, though, (http://centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/2006/senate/?state=OH) and they seem to think that he will definitely be the only Democrat in the race, that nobody else will jump in, and that he'd be a great candidate. What do you think?
